YORKSHIRE MARDAVE RACING CLUB CONSTRUCTION RULES
CHASSIS AND COMPONENTS Cars to be standard 1/12th scale Mardave V12 or Caterham series chassis
and suspension. The car chassis plate may be drilled to improve weight
distribution providing no sharp edges are left. Composite chassis allowed
Ball races allowed on rear axle. Rear axle and spur gear must
remain as kit. Diffs are allowed. Car suspension and wheel carriers shall remain as kit.
The use of countersink screws on the underside of the chassis is
recommended but not mandatory. Chassis top mounting may be changed, altered or removed.
The motor may be fitted to either side of the chassis, providing that
there is no modification or alteration to the chassis or mounting blocks.
No external bumpers are permitted, although internal foam bumpers are
recommended on the front.
BODYSHELL Any commercially available Mardave or Kamtec, ABS or Lexan body shells
may be used. The shell must remain securely fixed to the car throughout
the race. Windows may be cut out on ABS shells. No supplementary aerofoil or fins shall be fitted to the body with the
exception of a rear wing if desirable. This wing must be non metallic,
commercially available and securely fixed. The bodyshell can be decorated to suit the individuals taste providing
all coatings are of a permanent nature.
ELECTRICS Any make of servo, servo saver or track rod ends may be used on the cars
steering system. Any type, make and capacity of speed controller may be used providing it
includes reverse and retail price is less than £60.00.
Brushless systems
with 13 or 17.5 turn equivalent motors costing up to £110.00 for the
complete system.
Cars to use four
cells NiCad or Nimh, cells to be sub-C sized, with a nominal voltage of
1.2 volts per cell. 1 cell Lipo may be used but must only be
charged using a fireproof charging bag. Battery
mountings may be changed from the original. Motors will be the
Mardave G2 25 turn motor, standard 540 motor, Saturn 27 turn or Saturn
20 turn. Brushless, but these must be raced separate from brushed. Under no
circumstances are re-build-able motors, fitting of external bearings or
skimming of motor armatures allowed. Plastic whip aerials are allowed.
TYRES The tyres may be changed from the original kit tyres
Tyres to be Min 20mm, Max 26mm width and have a Max 60mm diameter. No
minimum diameter for tyres, but Minimum car ride height will be no
lower than 3mm, (1mm at the spur gear) and the tyre must cover the
wheel. Any foam tyre compound allowed.
GENERAL SETUP Tyre additive may be used providing it is non toxic, odourless and any
excess is removed from the surface of the tyres and tyres to be Touch
Dry prior to the start of the race. Varying types of springs and methods of limiting suspension travel may
be used. Minimum car weight is 1kg (1000g) Including transponder. Commercially available comm. drops may be applied to the motor
armatures. Please Note - With the exception of Saturn motors and composite
chassis, using the above rules will allow you to race at virtually any
club that runs to BRCA rules.

SCRUTINEERING
After each race, all
cars and transmitters to be left at scrutineering table and drivers should
then go and marshal the next race. Cars may then be collected on return
from marshalling once that race has finished. |
